a continuation of the pjo verse for some of my muses, new athens is the product of years of labor by annabeth chase, who decided after the second giants war to build something like new rome for greek demigods. new athens has a university run by mortals who can see through the mist, demigods, and gods alike, and is a place of sanctuary for all who live there. more tba, there will be a link here.

based on the pjo/hoo series and tlt musical, with some influences from the show. i do not adhere to canon after the blood of olympus, though i have read the trials of apollo books.

Johanna Mason

johanna's life is the fighting pits. after fleeing noxus, johanna found she was safe from her grim former life in zaun, and she's always been good at throwing a punch. she has no deep abiding love for the home she's made for herself, but it's better than what she had before. and for johanna, better than before is good enough until the next thing comes along.
that's how it started, at least. now, she works with the firelights, aiding in their missions and throwing a punch at an enforcer where she gets the chance. what's life without a little violence to someone like johanna?

amphitrite is the wavemother, and disguises herself as a priestess in her temple to try and find answers for the death of one of her most devout followers.
she recruits the party to help solve this mystery, and if they solve it through the completion of the iron throne heist, she rewards them with the wavemother's robe.

eurydice belabranta is from a family of griffon racers in waterdeep. she was put under the control of the absolute, and is a hireling withers can bring the party as an artificer.

Inej Ghafa

tw: prostitution, slavery. inej is one of astarion's siblings under cazador's control. once a human rogue, she now lives in szarr palace, trying and failing to find an escape until astarion suddenly vanishes.
she is one of the sacrifices for the ritual for cazador to become vampire ascendant. after she is freed, she remains in baldur's gate, and joins up with her old crew at the crow club.

Kiri Augustine

kiri and her family live among the myconid colony in the underdark. after being forced to flee their own part of the underdark, the sullys came to seek refuge in spaw's circle.
kiri is a talented and powerful cleric who is honing her skills during her time there. she is a recruitable companion after the duegar are defeated.
if she joins the party, she accompanies them to the shadow cursed lands, and is deeply disturbed by its condition. she works closely with halsin to try and break the curse and heal the land, and remains there after the curse is broken to help thaniel and oliver.

Lae'zel

Medea

medea is what could be considered a bad first draft. that anger was fused into her bones, the blood made to burn through her veins, her heart crafted to let her feel nothing but chaos. while she fought against those urges, they were turned against those who raised her, and then upon her own blood when she tried to fight against bhaal’s hold on her. medea went rogue after that, and was set aside as a failure so that bhaal could learn from those mistakes and make the chaos he so desperately wished to. medea holds no illusions as to what she is; her only hope now is to aid the true dark urge turn to their own path– whether it’s good or bad is their choice, but medea will be there with them to help them make the right choice for them.

Rickon Stark

rickon is a former noble turned ranger after his home was taken over by a rival family. he and his direwolf companion shaggy dog came to the emerald grove, where he sought sanctuary and a new home. he had peace for a while, until kagha initiated the ceremony to seal the grove and remove the tieflings. after the party defeat the goblins, rickon offers to accompany them and halsin to moonrise towers. he joins the party as an end of act 1/act 2 companion.

Satine Kryze

coming from menzoberranzan, satine was raised with the knowledge that the world was cruel, and she either had to be cruel or clever to survive in it. most of her house worshipped lolth, though there were a few outliers who followed the seldarine tradition and did not follow the teachings of the spider goddess. satine was one such drow, and when she became matriarch of house kryze, it put an obvious target on her back.
against her will, satine was forced to flee the city after an assassination attempt nearly succeeded. her sister bo katan took over, and satine found herself painfully alone. on her way to the surface in the hopes of finding peace, she was captured and tadpoled. she is released from its influence in grymforge by the party and joins them, breaking her oath of non-violence to enact revenge on those who did this to her.

Carlisle Cullen

carlisle is the son of a preacher who has fallen into good favor with the crown as the king's physician. he enjoys society life, modest with his power and discreet about his fortunes.

Celeborn of Doriath

celeborn of doriath is a lord from ireland who comes to enjoy the social season. rumor has it he was sent to find a wife, and with a fortune of his own, a love of music, and a wild spirit, he's certainly drawing the eye of more than one lady of the ton.

Effie Trinket

effie is the cousin of cressida, and comes to society in london to aid her cousin in finding a match, if indeed her reputation can be spared after the whistledown incident. seemingly shallow and a bright spot on a boring day, effie embraces the gossip-driven life of london with open arms, a glass of champagne, and ears pricked for the next bit of news she can gather.

Eurydice Belabranta

eurydice is the only daughter of the wealthy belabranta family, coming to london under the sponsorship of the lady persephone to find a husband.

Francesca Bridgerton

Meg Giry

meg never intended to leave france, especially not for england. but, following the mysterious fire at her former venue of the opera populaire, meg moved to london to serve as ballet mistress for the royal opera. now, she is part of the art scene of london, enjoying her spare time as a ballerina at royal performances. she is not without hope that with her connections and independent wealth, she may yet find a partner amongst the ton.

during her time with jason, medea learned to pay the iron price. she raised their children, but never gave up who she was. any goodwill she had for jason was lost when he sought to marry into house greyjoy and leave behind her and their sons. there was a price to pay for his treachery, and jason learned just what that price was when he found his sons and new bride dead and medea gone.
medea returned to westeros and cast herself at the mercy of her kin. her brother sent her inland for her safety. from oldstones, she traveled south along the king’s road, and eventually found herself in king’s landing. more tba.

Neoptolemus Greyjoy

neoptolemus is the son of euron greyjoy. estranged from his father, neoptolemus makes his own way in the world, overshadowed by his father's reputation but determined to leave his mark.

Arya Stark

arya is the younger sister of cregan stark. she was sent south to king’s landing following the birth of joffrey velaryon, initially to fill the court and be a lady-in-waiting to helaena. arya wasn’t good at this, though, but she was fond of helaena’s nature of not quite fitting in, so the two were better companions than queen and lady-in-waiting.
arya is held hostage by the greens after the death of viserys. more tba.

Astarion Ancunin

tw: prostitution. the street of silk is the place many dragonseeds call their home, and astarion is no different. a targaryen bastard, he works in the pleasure house called the szarr palace until word goes out that rhaenyra is recruiting dragonseeds to claim dragons.
astarion sees the chance to be free of his hated life, and he takes it without hesitation. he claims the dragon ansur when vermithor and silverwing are claimed, and joins team black.
it's tempting to fall prey to the lure of team green, especially when hugh and ulf are swayed to part ways, but astarion is, at the end of the day, loyal to the side that gave him his freedom for the first time in his life.

Edwina Sharma

mary tyrell left highgarden and westeros to marry a dornishman of mediocre status. it was quite the scandal, and mary wanted to keep her daughter edwina away from westeros and the judgment she knew the girl would face for the scandal of how she’d left in the first place. however, after the death of her father, edwina’s half-sister kate decided to send edwina to be a ward of the tyrells, under the condition that she would marry a westerosi lord and be accepted into society again.
following the removal of harwin strong from the city watch, the strongs scrambled to find a match for harwin. edwina was a good choice, and it was quickly agreed between the families. however, harwin’s sudden death isn’t enough to end the arrangement– larys, the second son, is betrothed to edwina instead.
now she lives in king’s landing, eager to prove herself as a lady worthy of renown and the affection of her betrothed.
this verse is flexible and can be shifted around however anyone wants.

Inej Ghafa

tw: slavery, prostitution. inej works on the street of silk in a brothel known as the menagerie. she uses her place here to gather information for team green, and works for aemond behind the scenes.

Joffrey Velaryon

Lae'zel

dragons have been the charge of lae'zel's family for generations. she serves house targaryen as one of the dragonkeepers.
the dragons are sacred to her. she takes their care very seriously, and is the one the others tend to turn to when things get chaotic. taking care of a dozen or so dragons isn't a simple task, after all, and lae'zel loves the dragons as though they are her own.
when the war begins, lae'zel remains on the side of team green, with the dragons she has cared for for her entire life.
when sunfyre is injured, lae'zel travels with some of the other dragonkeepers to care for him and get him strong enough to recover.
she returns to king's landing and is there for the attack on the dragon pit. griefstricken, lae'zel's loyalty is shaken as she mourns for the dragons. more tba as i figure this out and the show comes out since we haven't gotten this far yet.

Medea

Meg Giry

meg’s mother was a member of house pryor of pebble, one of the noble houses of the vale. as a very young child, she was sent to king’s landing to train as a dragonkeeper. it’s a role that she’s incredibly proud of, and one she takes very seriously. her primary role is caring for each new clutch of eggs, though the dragonkeepers all perform a variety of duties for house targaryen.
if on team black, she’s one of the few dragonkeepers who remains during the red sowing. the dragons have a wisdom of their own, she says, and who is she to question them?
if on team green, meg remains in king’s landing to care for the royal dragons there. i have no preference for what team she’s on.

Rhaenyra Targaryen

Rickon Stark

rickon is a member of house stark, and values his place as a younger member of the family to enjoy more freedom than others like cregan. the targaryens have their dragons, but rickon has his direwolf with just as fierce a bite as the symbol of his house.
while rickon isn’t permitted to fight in the dance of dragons, he takes protecting the north very seriously. more tba, i’m still trying to figure this verse out, but rickon is as per usual just as feral as he is in his other verses.

Shireen Baratheon

if on team black, shireen had no plan on doing claiming a dragon for herself, but her father stannis was determined to win this honor for their family. he took shireen and they traveled to dragonstone, where he searched in vain for any sign of the wild dragons there.during one of those times, she spotted the wild dragon grey ghost. eventually, he stopped flying away when he saw her, and she was able to approach him. there was an instant connection the moment they were face-to-face; grey ghost lowered his shoulder, and shireen climbed onto his back. their bond was forged in that first flight, and they became inseparable after that. post on grey ghost can be found here.
to match the show more closely, shireen is one of the individuals that claims a dragon around 2x05 when the other dragonseeds claim their dragons. she claims a wild dragon and leaves her family to join rhaenyra’s cause.

hades barely got a life before he was born. son of the titan kronos, hades' childhood was cut short when his father consumed him. hades and his siblings lived in darkness for the first years of their lives, until their brother zeus freed them. when the war to overthrow their father was done, hades was given dominion of the underworld.it felt like an improvement to everything he'd ever known. hades started building something worth calling his own.but still, he craved the sky. it was during one of his trips up top that he met persephone. it was instant love

for hades. when he asks her to run away with him, she goes without hesitation.the other gods wouldn't allow it. so they made a deal, that persephone would spend half of the year up top. but over time, the distance wore down their relationship. hades began to focus on other pursuits-- building the factories, putting the shades to work, creating the electric city. his estrangement from persephone pput a strain on the world. it wasn't until orpheus' arrival that things started changing. hades saw his flaws, and began to try to heal.

nico was born in 1934 in the height of mussolini's fascist regime in italy. war was not kind to the di angelo family, and maria raised nico and his sister bianca as best as she could. but in 1943 with the fall of mussolini and the declaration of an armistice between italy and america, the di angelos fled to washington d.c. to try and start a new life where they would be safe.but safety was simply a dream to them. the end of the great war brought about the great prophecy, and the pact of the big three along with it. zeus demanded that the siblings be sent to chb, but neither hades nor maria trusted his intentions. the deadline came and went, and the consequences of their defiance was maria's life. hades took his two children and put them in the lotus hotel, where they remained frozen in time for nearly 70 years.they were freed after that, and sent to westover hall-- a military school-- where they remained for a year before finding out they're demigods. bianca joined the hunters of artemis, and nico went to chb. he spent two quiet weeks there before news of bianca's death reached him. his grief and anger led him to flee, and with that, nico simply vanished.nico fled to the labyrinth, and it was there that he eventually met minos. minos trained nico to strengthen his natural abilities as a son of hades, but when minos betrayed nico, nico banished him to the underworld. he took on the title of the ghost king, and

fought alongside chb in the battle before vanishing again.
the rest of the war is known. nico fought alongside the others in the battle of manhattan, but when it was done, he was gone again. nico traveled for a bit before pluto gave him a position as ambassador at camp jupiter. he played his part and started fresh, until percy jackson came back into his life.he attempted to help the seven, but was sucked into tartarus instead. nico spent a month there, and only escaped when he was captured by gaea's forces and taken back to the land of the living. nico was freed by percy and co., and became part of the group attempting to stop the war to come.they did not succeed. nico made the choice to transport the athena parthenos to chb, and nearly died in the process. he fought in the final battle, and they won. after the war was finished, nico retired to chb to recover, after which he assumed his duties as ambassador to hades and pluto.when he was eighteen, nico went on his quest, and nearly died before returning to chb, changed but finally accepted. more info about this quest tba. it is not the sun & the star compliant.new athens. nico remained in chb after that, traveling between there and new rome as an ambassador. eventually with the founding of new athens, nico moved there and continued his duties until retiring.

a song has always followed orpheus wherever he went. growing up listening to the music of mortals and the stories of the gods, orpheus found himself drawn to the space between mortal and divine. a half-god himself and the child of a muse, orpheus was meant to share music with the world.hermes began to teach him to play the lyre when he was still very young, and orpheus was immediately enchanted by it. he began to write his own songs based on the stories that hermes would tell him, and became well known for his melodies and songs.

it was one day where he met a girl-- eurydice-- and it was instant love for him. they shared a summer romance, and fell in love. she agreed to marry him, and for a moment, life was perfect.it wasn't to last. consumed in his work, orpheus became lost, and in his absence, eurydice went down to hadestown. orpheus made his way to down below to beg for eurydice's return and life. he was given a chance, but in a moment of doubt, he failed her once again. eurydice was returned to the underworld, and orpheus returned to the world of the living alone. to sing it again...

icarius of sparta never wanted a daughter. he prayed to the gods to grant him a son-- a child of the naiad perioboea, a half god to carry on his legacy. but penelope was born instead. infuriated, icarius threw his daughter from the cliffside by the palace and into the sea. periboea ran to the water to try to find her daughter, but by the time she got down the cliffside, penelope was returned safely to the shore and resting in a duck's nest. she was taken back to the palace and given the name penelope. the little duckling that seemed blessed by the gods themselves.

the next years of penelope's life were simple. she was raised as a princess of sparta, and when she was old enough, she married odysseus of ithaca, and returned home with him. it was strange to be somewhere so different from sparta, but she was lucky with odysseus. she found love, and they eventually had a son.the trojan war took odysseus away from home, and penelope was left to rule ithaca on her own. it was what she was born for.when odysseus returned, they ruled together and had two more sons. more tba.

HADESTOWN. this follows the course of the musical hadestown. penelope is down with the other workers constructing the wall, lost in her grief and her work. post-musical, she attempts to begin the search for her husband.PJO. penelope is the daughter of one of poseidon's oceanids and a mortal. she dwells on the outskirts camp half-blood with the other nymphs and naiads, not one of its campers but a half god seeking refuge for herself and her son.

MODERN. penelope is a specialist in classical mythology and works as an archivist. she is the wife of a soldier.NAIAD. penelope was taken by poseidon when her father threw her into the sea, and grows up as one of his naiads.QUEEN OF SPARTA. penelope reclaims the throne of sparta after her father was set aside by her uncle. she unites with the house of atreus, and forms an alliance with them through her cousin's marriage to agamemnon.

THE WILD WOLF. after house umber take rickon and osha as hostages, osha helps rickon to escape after they're given to the boltons. eventually, rickon is found by a raiding party of free folk. they take rickon back to hardhome with them. rickon ends up embracing his life at hardhome, and things begin to feel like they might be alright again. he might have a real chance to start over here and make a proper future for himself.that future was once again stolen from him when hardhome was evacuated, but rickon is able to get onto one of the boats and flee with the others. to his shock, he’s reunited with not just jon, but sansa as well. rickon rejects any claim he might have to winterfell, and chooses to support his sister as warden of the north.

HOTD. rickon is a member of house stark, and values his place as a younger member of the family to enjoy more freedom than others like cregan. the targaryens have their dragons, but rickon has his direwolf with just as fierce a bite as the symbol of his house.while rickon isn't permitted to fight in the dance of dragons, he takes protecting the north very seriously. more tba, i'm still trying to figure this verse out, but rickon is as per usual just as feral as he is in his other verses.D&D/BALDUR'S GATE. rickon is a former noble turned ranger after his home was taken over by a rival family. now, he and his direwolf shaggy dog wander in search of a new home, and perhaps some adventure along the way.

SURVIVAL AU. shireen is not burnt on the pyre, and is protected by the lord of light from being sacrificed. shireen travels to rejoin ser davos, and joins him, jon, and later daenerys in the battle against the night king.RIDER of VISERION. this builds off of shireen’s survival verse. when she and daenerys meet, shireen is introduced to the dragons. she and viserion form a bond, and with daenerys’ permission, shireen becomes viserion’s rider. more tba, and the details of this are flexible.LADY GREYSCALE. au where robert's rebellion didn't happen, and house targaryen remained in power. shireen is promised to prince aegon targaryen, and lives in king's landing while her father serves the crown on the council.HOTD I. shireen’s story is mostly the same as it is in game of thrones, and she lives at storm’s end with her uncle borros baratheon. she is kept mostly out of sight due to her scar from greyscale when she was an infant, and spends much of her time educating herself. more tba.

HOTD II. RIDER of GREY GHOST. during the dance of dragons, prince jacaerys velaryon promised a knighthood and lands to anyone who could master a dragon and become its rider. shireen had no plan on doing so, but her father stannis was determined to win this honor for their family. he took shireen and they traveled to dragonstone, where he searched in vain for any sign of the wild dragons there.during one of those times, she spotted the wild dragon grey ghost. eventually, he stopped flying away when he saw her, and she was able to approach him. there was an instant connection the moment they were face-to-face; grey ghost lowered his shoulder, and shireen climbed onto his back. their bond was forged in that first flight, and they became inseparable after that. post on grey ghost can be found here.to match the show more closely, shireen is one of the individuals that claims a dragon around 2x05 when the other dragonseeds claim their dragons. she claims a wild dragon and leaves her family to join rhaenyra's cause.
